Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
How does PoolDisk compare with other pool cover solutions?
PoolDisk is a simple, convenient, economical and durable method of reducing swimming pool heating costs.
How does the PoolDisk solution work?
PoolDisk prevents evaporation, the major source of heat loss in swimming pools. Additionally, PoolDisk provides partial solar heating of the pool water, thus, further reducing overall energy use.
Can PoolDisk work with my existing solar pool heater?
Absolutely. Using your existing solar pool heater and PoolDisk together can make your swimming pool's usable season longer than it was with the pool heater alone.
What is PoolDisk made of?
PoolDisk is made of US Coast Guard approved flotation material that is rot-proof and durable, with a greater than 5 year estimated outdoor life.
How much energy will I save?
Energy cost reductions on the order of 50 % can be achieved through proper use of PoolDisk.
Do they leak?
PoolDisk does not require inflation and cannot leak or deflate.
How do I store them?
PoolDisk can be stored easily and compactly on the Disk Rack in sun or shade.
How buoyant is PoolDisk?
Each PoolDisk can easily support an adult person in the water, yet weighs only 26 oz.
Do I have to spend time distributing PoolDisk in the pool?
No. The disks naturally position themselves, covering about 75% of the typical pool surface.
Do I need to remove PoolDisk to clean my pool?
No. The disks do not interfere with pool sweep or skimmer operation.
How do I gather the PoolDisk for storage?
The disks can be easily removed from the pool by hand or using the Disk Pole and stacked on the Disk Rack. They can be replaced on the pool by simply slipping the disks back onto the water.
What about wind?
The disks are made with a special surface on the water facing side to minimize lifting or blowing out of the pool.
How long will they last?
Disks are guaranteed against manufacturing defects. Typical life is estimated at longer than 5 years in normal use. Disks damaged in normal use will be replaced at PoolDisk's discretion.
